Before coming to Adelaide, Lan was a lecturer in Finance in Vietnam. She had been teaching for 3 years before coming to the University of Adelaide to complete a Postgraduate Higher Degree by Research (HDR) at the Faculty of Professions, Business School undertaking a reserach topic of 'The Performance of Financial Analysts'. When she finishes her studies, she will continue her career in the academic sector.
"The reason I chose to study at the University of Adelaide is because I was accepted by Professor Ralf Zurbruegg whose research interest is close to mine and his working style is very efficient. Also, I was offered a generous scholarship by the University to pursue my study."
"One of my challenges was my lack of researching skills and experience. I had to learn everything from the very beginning."
"The IBP-R program has been very useful to me. I was provided with sufficient guidance to start doing research. I particularly like the seminars, in which I can have more interaction with my tutor to raise any practical issues that I have. The content design of the seminars is good as well. I think the presentation is very useful. We had a chance to practice speaking and answering the questions from a large audience. Also, I received a lot of constructive comments from my tutor regarding both the content and presentation skills."
Throughout this program, I got to know other students from different disciplines, we can share our experiences about both our research and daily life. It is a good way to help us adapt to living in a new country.Lan from Vietnam
