Winter Words #1: Less is More

Winter Words
Less is More: Crafting Enduring Images in the Short Poem with Dr Heather Taylor-Johnson

The JMCCCP is proud to collaborate with the Adelaide Hills Council to present this workshop on poetry writing ahead of the Hills iteration of our annual street festival Raining Poetry.

In this workshop participants will pay special attention to the motto “every word counts”. We will explore short poems by famous poets such as Ezra Pound, Basho and Margaret Atwood and discuss what makes these exemplary in the short form. We will also look at longer poems too and discuss which portions of them might stand alone as stellar short poems. Participants will join in a series of short writing exercises, will share and discuss their work and will edit their work.
