Winter Words #2: Writing the Local

Winter Words
Writing the Local: The Art of Crafting Unique Nature Poetry with Dr Rachael Mead

The JMCCCP is proud to collaborate with the Adelaide Hills Council to present this workshop on poetry writing ahead of the Hills iteration of our annual street festival Raining Poetry.

It is easy to feel inspired by our distinctive Australian landscape but not so easy to translate what we see and feel into poems that tell our reader something unique. In this hands-on workshop we will explore the diverse ways contemporary poets use location and environment in their work, deepen your poetry, moving beyond describing what you see to more sensory intellectual and emotional responses to landscape and explore ways to write about connection to place and belonging while honouring and acknowledging indigenous history and traditional ownership.
