Professor J.M. Coetzee awarded with the Companion of the Order of Australia in the King’s Birthday Honours

We are delighted to share with you the news that on Monday the 9th of June, 2025, Professor J. M. Coetzee was awarded with the Companion of the Order of Australia in the King’s Birthday Honours.

The Companion of the Order of Australia is one of the highest civil awards that can be granted, recognising “eminent achievement and merit of the highest degree in service to Australia or to humanity at large”.

Professor Coetzee was offered this prestigious award “for eminent service to the arts, particularly literature, to literary studies, to tertiary education, and to animal welfare.” The Centre congratulates Professor Coetzee on the occasion of receiving this honour.
