Support Kaurna Warra Pintyanthi

KWP conducts its Kaurna language reclamamation and revival mainly with volunteers and part time workers attached to the University of Adelaide - if funding permits.

Financial support has been granted by various programs run by Commonwealth, State and local governments, most recently the Indigenous Languages Support (ILS) of the Government of Australia, and the Adelaide City Council (ACC).  Most of these grants were project specific as for instance the Kaurna Place Names website.

Kaurna language reclamation efforts began in 1989/90 and have achieved impressive results over that period.  Kartanya Buckskin, born in 2011 and being raised from birth bilingually in Kaurna and English by her parents, is now producing her first Kaurna words.

If you wish to support KWP financially, we value any contribution. For language revival to be effecient it needs a long term pesrspective. At present, the KWP initiators are looking into broadening their base by actively including the second generation of Kaurna and non-Kaurna language learners, to keep developing the language for present-day use.  Our current focus is the training of teachers from within the Kaurna community to transmit their language to children and adults alike.

Your assistance will be of great help.

Feel free to join us at the monthly KWP committee meetings.  For more details please contact us.
