Feedback Fruits Pilot

Background

The MyUni ecosystem has proven itself to be robust and fit-for-purpose to deliver online and remote learning during the 2020 response to Covid-19. However, the at-scale shift to remote learning experiences has highlighted a gap in MyUni’s ability to elegantly support the administration and delivery of peer to peer and group learning. This includes the stages of feedback, review and evaluation, which has traditionally occurred within, formal and informal, face to face learning experiences.

To address this functionality gap, Learning Enhancement and Innovation (LEI) commenced discussion in November 2020 with the company Feedback Fruits to trial two tools:

  • Peer Review
  • Group Member Evaluation

About Feedback Fruits

Feedback Fruits is a suite of tools designed to encourage student engagement and learning. The tools support students’ development and ability to display teamwork and communication skills, aligned with University of Adelaide Graduate Attribute three.

  • Peer Review tool

The Peer Review tool enables instructors to create assignments for students to provide peer feedback on deliverables. The tool structures and streamlines the process of students reviewing their peers’ work and can integrate with groups set in MyUni.

    How it works?

An overview of the tool can be viewed on the Feedback Fruits website. A University of Adelaide demonstration of the tool can be accessed through box along with a video of a user case and guide for how to set up an assignment in MyUni using the tool.

  • Group Member Evaluation

The Group Member Evaluation tool enables instructors to create assignments for students to provide feedback on how their peers have participated in their group. The tool integrates with groups set in MyUni. This tool will be compared with the functionality of SPLAT (Self and Peer Learning Assessment Tool) which was developed in-house and is in regular use.

Pilot Timeline

The pilot commenced in December 2020 by inviting expressions of interest.

Those staff interested in piloting the tool/s in Semester 1 and Trimester 2 are still eligible to join the pilot.

During the pilot, feedback will be collected from both students and staff to inform a recommendation on the licensing of the Peer Review and Group Member Evaluation tools.

The pilot will end on 1st of September 2021 with an evaluation and recommendation re adoption of Feedback Fruits. From 1st of September 2021, additional use of the tools will be paused until an adoption decision is made, based on the evaluation results.
