Role of the Pro-Vice Chancellor (International)

The role of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) is to provide leadership in achieving the University’s strategic goals in regard to internationalisation and for the continuing strategic development of international activities and engagement on behalf of the University.

Maintenance of strong relationships with key strategic partners is a key driver in the achievement of these strategic aims.

There are four main pillars to this role:

  • Initiating strategies to guide the recruitment of international students both onshore and offshore
  • Facilitating opportunities for increased University of Adelaide student mobility abroad
  • Supporting opportunities for research collaboration overseas
  • Engaging staff in an agenda to promote internationalisation at home goals through curricular and extra-curricular activities

Biography of Professor Nancy Cromar

As an academic, Professor Cromar is an internationally recognised expert in health-related water microbiology and global public health risk assessment and management, with over 100 publications in the international peer-reviewed literature. She has acted as a consultant for both the World Health Organisation and the National Health and Medical Research Council on matters pertaining to water quality and health. She was a Board member of the Environmental Health Australia for 3 years from 2006-2009.

Professor Cromar holds a BSc (Hons) and PhD from Edinburgh Napier University. In addition to working at the University of Adelaide previously in an academic role, she has held positions at Edinburgh Napier University, the Scottish Agricultural College and most recently at Flinders University where she was Vice President (International) for 3 years from 2013-2016.
