Biographical

Mrs Patrick Campbell (born Beatrice Rose Stella Tanner) was born in London on 9 February 1865. An English Stage Actress she began her career in 1888 at the Alexandra Theatre. She would go on to perform many outstanding performances, most notably the roles of Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, Ophelia in Hamlet and Lady Macbeth in Macbeth while working with Forbes-Robertson at the Lyceum.

By 1900 Mrs Campbell had become her own Manager/Director and took her career overseas, making her debut performance in New York City, before travelling around the United States. She remaining in New York until 1933.

Mrs. Campbell died of pneumonia on 9 April 1940 in France.
