Urrbrae House is delighted to host "Worth the Waite: Contemporary Art at Urrbrae House" by emerging artist, Rebecca Read, as part of the South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival 2019. Rebecca is embarking on her first solo show featuring a collection of works in oils and acrylics featuring landscapes, florals and portraits.

From the artist: For this exhibition I have tried to capture the true nature of living in South Australia. The style of painting I have used is unique and aims to create a welcoming feel to onlookers and tourists. My name is Rebecca Read and I am a local girl, with a sense of humour, currently residing in South Australia. I haven't always lived in Australia though; I've lived overseas in England and if living abroad has taught me anything in life, it's how much I adore the beautiful landscapes and scenery of home. My paintings are realistic but also not so realistic that they don't invite people to dream and wonder. As a painter, I aim to capture the essence of a place, moments and people. One of my specialities is live event painting, where I am invited by couples to attend their weddings and capture their special day.

Exhibition launch: The exhibition will be officially launched by Guy Louanglath on Saturday,10 August 2019 from 2.30pm - 4.30pm.
