New Master of Arts Degree in Gastronomy

Adelaide University today signed an agreement with Le Cordon Bleu to offer a joint degree program leading to a Master of Arts in Gastronomy.

The degree program will be offered in Adelaide and by high-quality distance education.

Le Cordon Bleu is a well known provider of culinary arts programs worldwide.

University Vice-Chancellor Professor Mary O'Kane said the new degree program was another example of how Adelaide University was working with international industry in areas of research and education strength.

"We have an excellent reputation for research and education in food, wine and nutrition and are pleased to form this partnership with Le Cordon Bleu," she said.

"Gastronomy is well supported at the University by our Research Centre for the History of Food and Drink.

"We anticipate that the new degree program will be offered in 2001 and will be one of the few such courses available anywhere in the world. "
