Audition in Kuala Lumpur to study music at the Uni of Adelaide

The University of Adelaide’s Elder Conservatorium of Music will be holding auditions in Kuala Lumpur on Monday 3 August 2015 for entry to its undergraduate and post graduate music degrees.

The Elder Conservatorium of Music is Australia’s oldest and most distinguished tertiary music school located in central Adelaide—a city celebrated for its rich and diverse artistic traditions.

The Conservatorium offers undergraduate study in Performance (Classical and Jazz), Composition, Sonic Arts, Musicology, and Popular Music and Creative Technologies. Studies in music education/pedagogy are also available.

Postgraduate coursework programs are available in Performance (Classical and Jazz), and Performance and Pedagogy.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

The audition requirements differ depending on the program or study area:

- Classical and Jazz Performance
Applicants should play/sing a minimum of three pieces of different musical styles and/or by different composers. It should be 10-15 minutes in duration for undergraduate study, and 20-30 mins in duration for postgraduate study. The audition will be assessed for musical achievement and potential for study. Applicants are also requested to supply a list of pieces studied over the past two years.

- Composition
Applicants should present three recently completed original compositions. The compositions should be for different instruments or ensembles and should demonstrate creative ability and musicianship.

- Sonic Arts
Applicants should present a collection of works (on a CD/DVD) that include original compositions and/or recorded or produced songs and/or instrumental performance. The folio should demonstrate musicianship and technical ability in music technology.

- Popular Music and Creative Technologies
Applicants should present three original works composed in a pop/rock style. Applicants should also submit a CV of relevant experience in the pop/rock style.
