Book Launch: 'The Consul' by Ian Kemish AM

Dr Jessica Gallagher, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement), invites our Alumni to the South Australian launch of The Consul by Ian Kemish AM.

The Consul Book cover by Ian Kemish featuring a plane flying over a golden globe

As the former High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea and Ambassador to Germany, Ian provides an insider view on the Australian consular service from the fall of the Berlin wall up to the Ukraine war. Both a recounting of history and a reflection on the changing world, The Consul explores events such as the loss of MH17 and the Fukushima disaster, the rise of global terrorism, and the resulting impact on intelligence and security organisations and the operation of western foreign and consular services.

The launch will feature a welcome from Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia, followed by an address and Q&A session by the author, and will conclude with a networking reception.

We look forward to having you attend for an insider view on Australian international relations.

Please RSVP via the Eventbrite link below by Friday, 12 August.
