Take Two Oboes Concert with Celia Craig and Joshua Oates

A musical celebration in the heritage listed Barr Smith Library Reading Room to commemorate Jiri Tancibudek AM (1921-2004) and celebrate 90 years of Library memories.

Celia and Josh post with their oboes

Celia Craig, former Principal Oboe of Adelaide Symphony Orchestra (ASO) and founder of Artaria Ltd, will be joined by Joshua Oates, ASO’s new Principal Oboe and former holder of the Jiri Tancibudek Memorial Scholarship for Oboe.

Join us in the stunning setting of the Reading Room and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine - this will be a very special acoustic experience.

Proceeds from the concert support the Barr Smith Library and the Jiri Tancibudek Memorial Scholarship for Oboe.

Jiří Tancibudek AM (1921-2004) joined the University of Adelaide in 1964, teaching oboe at the Elder Conservatorium. One of the world's most acclaimed oboists, Tancibudek had works written for him by many composers including Martinů, Feld, and Australian composers Margaret Sutherland and Miriam Hyde.

His archive and papers are held in the Barr Smith Library.
