Adelaide University Judo Club's upcoming Dynamic Balance Introductory Course commences in October running through to December. ImmigrAction: A visual journey of migration and health

The ImmigrAction Photo Exhibition explores the lived experiences of newly arrived Brazilian migrants in Adelaide through their own eyes - and their own lenses. This exhibition is the outcome of the research project: “Bridging cultures: Understanding Brazilian migrant perspectives in Adelaide – A Photovoice study”. Sunday 9 November to Friday 16 November, 10 am to 5 pm. Migration Museum Chapel, 82 Kintore Avenue, Adelaide.

The Whale - The play that made a splash

Big-hearted and fiercely funny, The Whale is the story of a man’s last chance at redemption, and of finding beauty in the most unexpected places. Charlie cannot stop eating to the detriment of everyone around him, including his long-estranged daughter. Desperate to reconnect, Charlie reaches out to her, only to find a viciously sharp-tongued and wildly unhappy teen. The 2022 Oscar-winning movie was adapted by Samuel D. Hunter from his 2012 play. School of Psychology Research Seminar

Professor Isaac Lipkus (Duke University School of Nursing) will present his research exploring how the belief in a just world is related to reactions to interpersonal transgressions, including perceptions of discrimination. His talk will present preliminary results in these areas and offer a working model on elaborating the belief in just world’s key concept of deservingness. Annual Professor Alan Reid lecture

Political parties and democracy: The early development of South Australia’s party system the fifth annual Professor Alan Reid lecture will cover South Australia’s political life from 1901 to 1914. In particular, it will examine the gradual shift to a dominant two-party political system and the ongoing battle to expand the franchise for the Legislative Council. These and other issues will be explored through the lives and contributions of some of the leading political characters of the period such as Tom Price, John Verran and Archibald Peake. Elder After Hours - Born in Vienna

Celebrating Vienna as the birthplace of orchestral music as we know it, this special performance presents Mozart’s first and last thoughts, Beethoven’s dramatic arrival onto the stage, and Schubert’s ‘great’ C major symphony, a work that sums up the Viennese classical tradition while simultaneously knocking on the door of the romanticism that took its place.
