University of Adelaide to open new campus in Melbourne

Students interested in studying in Melbourne will now have the opportunity to receive a quality University of Adelaide education by studying at the University’s newest campus.

The University of Adelaide will open a new Melbourne campus in time for Trimester 2, July 2020, with both undergraduate and postgraduate programs on offer – in fields such as IT, commerce, accounting, and finance.

To be based in the Kaplan building at Docklands, and operated by Kaplan in partnership with the University, the campus is expected to attract several hundred new students over the coming years and will initially be open to international students.

This is the first time in its 146-year history that the University of Adelaide has opened another campus in Australia outside of its home state.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Peter Rathjen said the new Melbourne campus would open up the University of Adelaide’s world-class education to more students.

“Our new presence in Melbourne supports the University of Adelaide’s strategic direction to provide an innovative, 21st century education to a growing community of learners,” Professor Rathjen said.

“While modest in size compared to our existing campuses, the new Melbourne campus will broaden the reach of a University of Adelaide education in areas in which we excel. It will further position our University as a leader in modern learning, and provide us with an entry point into the eastern states.

“It will augment our current programs and distinctive campus-based student experience, which remain central to our institutional identity.

“The campus will also have the capacity to expand its offerings in the future to showcase our areas of specialist knowledge, including wine and artificial intelligence.

“We believe students will be attracted by our international reputation, seeking access to the specialised knowledge we offer and the opportunities our University opens for them,” Professor Rathjen says.

The University of Adelaide’s academic programs will be designed by the University and taught by Kaplan academic staff, with the University collaborating on quality assurance and assessment.

Enrolment is now open for 11 degree programs at the University of Adelaide’s Melbourne campus: Bachelor of Information Technology, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Accounting, Bachelor of Accounting and Corporate Finance, Bachelor of Corporate Finance, Master of Accounting, and Master of Finance, Master of Finance, Master of Professional Accounting and Master of Computing and Innovation.
