Deloitte and University of Adelaide team up to prepare students for jobs of the future

The Deloitte Academy will provide opportunities for both undergraduate and postgraduate students across education, research, grand challenges, internships and work experience.

Students will gain future-focused, work-ready skills and a pathway to employment following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding by Deloitte Australia and the University of Adelaide.

The Deloitte Academy and the University of Adelaide will offer a world-class academic program that will create up to 200 internships each year and pathways to full-time employment for leading students.

“This partnership will result in outcomes for our students that will help to set them – and our State – on a path to success, spanning multiple career opportunities and future-facing industries,''Professor Peter Hoj, Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Adelaide

The Deloitte Academy will provide opportunities for both undergraduate and postgraduate students across education, research, grand challenges, internships and work experience. It will draw on the expertise and leadership of the Deloitte global network and will enable students to pursue an employment pathway with Deloitte or a complementary industry sector.

This new partnership will prepare students for opportunities in future-focused industries by incorporating a business, engineering, commerce, digital and technology-focused curriculum. The curriculum will be relevant to several growth sectors, including defence, digital, agriculture, and health sciences – areas in which the University has national and global expertise.

The announcement builds on Deloitte’s recent investment in its Adelaide practice, including the expansion of the firm’s Adelaide Consulting business and the launch of its first Australian Centre for Innovation and Technology that will create up to 500 local jobs.

Premier of South Australia, Steven Marshall said: “There are so many jobs available to South Australians across high-tech and high-growth sectors – and we want to see our young people grasp these opportunities to build a career right here in our state and boost the economy.”

“I congratulate Deloitte and the University of Adelaide on this exciting partnership.”

Vice Chancellor, University of Adelaide, Professor Peter Hoj said: “The University is excited to be partnering with an industry leader, Deloitte, to enhance our outstanding educational experience – with relevant, work-ready skills that will help to propel students into meaningful careers.

“This partnership will result in outcomes for our students that will help to set them – and our State – on a path to success, spanning multiple career opportunities and future-facing industries.

“This partnership is a great demonstration of the University of Adelaide’s collaboration with industry to provide students and graduates with work-integrated learning opportunities, and an education that provides both students and industry with the skills needed for the workforce of the future."

Deloitte Australia Managing Partner, Adelaide, Hendri Mentz said: “We are delighted to be partnering with the University of Adelaide to make graduates more ‘work-ready’ than ever before by providing internship opportunities, a unique educational experience and creating long-term employment pathways.

“This is about harnessing the University of Adelaide’s pool of strong student talent, offering students invaluable work experience at Deloitte, and is yet another way we are demonstrating our enormous confidence in the Adelaide talent market and South Australian economy.”

Deloitte Australia CEO, Adam Powick said: “We are very proud to be working with the University of Adelaide on this ground breaking initiative given the importance of the skills agenda to our firm, the state of South Australia and the broader nation.”
