On the search for the secrets of southern sky

The next steps are being taken to unlock the secrets of the universe above the southern hemisphere. University of Adelaide researchers are working with water tank manufacturer Aquamate to investigate the best way to deploy sensors to detect the highest energy gamma rays from the universe.

First detection of supernova extreme afterglow

A multinational team of researchers including scientists from the University of Adelaide has shown for the first time that certain kinds of supernova explosions can emit gamma rays bursts of extreme energies that can be detected from the Earth’s surface.
