Chinese Language Courses
Chinese is spoken by over 1 billion people around the world, about one fifth of the global population. In addition to the People's Republic of China and Taiwan, it is also spoken in the Chinese communities of Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, the Philippines, and Mongolia.
Each year more and more students around the world are studying it with enthusiasm and success. Why? Because China is one of the world's oldest and richest continuous cultures and it is the second largest economy in the world. By studying the Chinese language and culture you can help bridge the cultural gap, better understand your Chinese counterparts, and create a platform of knowledge and understanding that is crucial for effective communication.
Introduction to Chinese
Targeted at the complete beginner, this course will provide a very basic, yet practical, introduction to Chinese.
Ideal for simple social interaction, this practical course will give you the confidence to communicate in routine and high-frequency situations and, importantly, will also enhance your socio-cultural understanding and survival skills where Chinese is spoken.
Chinese First Year Intensive
Intensive Chinese is designed for beginners of the language. While completion of the Introduction to Chinese course at PACE will be an advantage, this is not essential.
The course will follow a format where you will learn from teacher-directed instruction and task-based activities; this format provides you greater opportunity to interact in Chinese and learn the structure of the language for functional use.
There will be some use of English initially, however this will reduce as the course progresses and Chinese will be used increasingly as the medium of classroom instruction.
