An example of recent client experiences of PCE’s blended learning solutions are below.

  • Communication, Coaching and Giving Feedback at the a local government Council

    Building capability for transformation

Working in collaboration with the Council, PCE designed a professional development program that develops leaders’ capability in communication, coaching and provided feedback in an environment of change.

A key success indicator was the transfer of training into leaders’ daily practice, and changes in their leadership style.

To achieve this outcome, PCE developed an integrated blended learning program delivered face-to-face and online over 8-10 months.

    The program included:

    Face-to-face sessions

    • pre and post program sessions to provide context to the program and the aims of the Council and to demonstrate Executive Team support.
    • intensive half-day workshops designed to develop participants’ knowledge and skills.
    • small group coaching sessions that enable participants to apply learning and go deeper into the content.

    Online activities and extension

    • self-assessment activities that give participants an understanding of their current skills and mindset.
    • self-reflection activities that embed participants’ learning by allowing them to make a personal connection to the subject matter.
    • action learning activities and projects that provide opportunities for participants to apply their learning to real work activities and projects.
    • further content and ‘one stop’ for all program information.

The result was a program that built capability and was firmly embedded in participants’ work context. It also created opportunities for skill retention during a period of organisational change.

  • Leadership Development: ‘Leadership is a choice not a position’ for a not for profit organisation

Making a flexible transition to leadership.

Like many organisations, this not for profit wanted to upskill their team leaders but faced staff availability challenges and budget restrictions.

PCE worked closely with the NFP to transform content from our highly regarded From Team Member to Team Leader course into highly flexible blended learning delivery. The final program, delivered over 8 months combined intensive face to face - “Learn & Lunch” - workshops with online content delivery.

    The program included:

    Face-to-face sessions

    • an introduction session to establish the shared Values and goals of the organisation and concluding session to provide opportunity for participants to reflect and share their learning.
    • 7 intensive 2 hour workshops designed to continually develop participants’ knowledge and skills.
    • 1 specialist skills session focusing on leadership communication.

    Online activities and extension

    • preparation/self-assessment activities that give participants an understanding of their current skills and mindset, and prepare them to ‘hit the ground running’ in the workshops.
    • self-reflection activities that embed participants’ learning by allowing them to make a personal connection to the subject matter.
    • further content and ‘one stop’ for all program information.

The result was a program that built critical foundational leadership skills and confidence in their team leaders, many of whom were transitioning into a leadership and management role for the first time.

In addition, the highly flexible delivery options and ‘just in time’ and ‘at my own pace’ online content enabled this program to be delivered within their budget and availability constraints.
