The Barr Smith Press is an imprint of the University of Adelaide Press, which publishes titles about the history of the University and scholarly works not available as a free download.

It was created as an imprint of the University Library around 1996 to publish limited editions such as Joanna and Robert: The Barr Smiths' Life In Letters, now only available on loan.

In 2005 the 'University of Adelaide Barr Smith Press' was formed to publish three works on behalf of the John Bray Law Network: Hague's History of the Law in South Australia, 1837-1867, History of the Independent Bar of South Australia and First Among Equals.

In late 2008 The University of Adelaide Press was formed and the Barr Smith Press regained its separate identity.
