Nexus 10 Study Space Refresh

What is happening?

The Faculty of Professions is excited to bring you a modern, vibrant and exciting new look study space which is up to date for your needs! Until the start of Semester 1, 2018, the Faculty of Professions is refreshing the study and teaching spaces in Nexus 10.

To ensure you are able to take advantage of the new facilities before Semester 1 2018, please expect some disruptions throughout the period of:

20th November, 2017 to 17th February, 2018

This will mean that a lot of the student spaces, including teaching rooms, will be closed or experience disruptions during this renovation. We have put together this guide below to let you know what levels are affected and where and how to access particular amenities during this time.

Affected Levels

  • Upper Basement (Downstairs)

    Most of the Upper Basement will be under construction

    Areas that will be closed include:

    • Teaching Rooms: UB34, UB35, UB36
    • Study Booths
    • Study tables infront of the lifts

    Areas and services that will remain open for your use:

    • Computers
    • Lifts
    • Toilets
    • Prayer Rooms

  • Ground Floor

    Expect disruptions to the lobby including the cafe sitting area and the foyer area infront of the Thinc Lab.

    Areas that will be closed include:

    • The Global Lounge
    • Lobby sitting area near window

    Areas and services that will remain open for your use:

    • Computers
    • Lifts
    • Student work area (long tables)

  • Level 1

    Areas that will be closed include:

    • Non-Teaching Post Grad Computer Lab 1.03
    • Professions Common Room 1.07 including the kitchen
    • Study Coach Room 1.02

    Areas and services that will remain open for your use:

    • Toilets (near the Professions Support Hub desk)
    • Lifts
    • Professions Support Hub
    • Computer bars

  • Level 2

    Level 2 is undergoing a complete rehaul and therefore the entire level will be unavailable during this time.

  • Back Courtyard

    The Courtyard which is accessed via the Ground Level will be unavailable during this time.

Services and Amenities available during refresh

Below are the limited services and amenities that we will have available during the refresh. If these are not sufficient, we encourage you to use those at Hub Central.

  • Study Spaces

    Places to study will be available at the following locations:

    • Ground Floor in the main lobby area

  • Toilets

    If you need access to toilet facilities the following will be available during the refresh:

    • Upper Basement (downstairs)
    • Level 1 (behind the lifts and behind the Professions Support Hub)
  • Water

    Water will be available from a portable water dispenser located on Level 1 opposite the stairs.

  • Charging

    If you require access to powerpoints to charge your devices they can found at the following locations:

    • Upper Basement - near computers
    • Ground Floor - near computers
  • Computers

    If you need access to computers during this time they will remain available at the following locations:

    • Upper Basement (downstairs)
    • Ground Floor
    • Level 1 (computer bars)
  • Kitchen

    Kitchen spaces will remain unavailable during this time, it is suggested that you utilise the kitchen space located at Hub Central.

  • Prayer Rooms

    The Prayer Rooms located on the Upper Basement level (downstairs) will remain available for use.

  • Professions Support Hub

    The Professions Support Hub located on Level 1 will remain open during the refresh. If you require any help with study plans, common electives, support services, and much more you will be able to contact the Professions Support Hub or visit during drop-in times.
