International Agreements

The University of Adelaide’s International Agreements are formal documents between the University and an international partner with the aim to enhance mutual learning, teaching, research and innovation.

The International Agreements Policy governs the development, establishment, monitoring and review of a defined class of agreements with institutions outside of Australia (or internationally).

This Policy applies to the development, execution, variation, extension and renewal of International Agreements with International Partners. This includes Agreements with agents engaged by the University to recruit international students (undergraduate, postgraduate coursework and postgraduate research) in both Australia and overseas.

The International Agreements Policy does not apply to:

  1. the provision of project research and innovation funding from an International Partner and related agreements which are not International Agreements as defined by this Policy and which are regulated by the Division of Research and Innovation according to the Research Grants, Contracts and Consultancies Policy and Intellectual Property Policy;
  2. Undergraduate and Postgraduate Coursework jointly conferred awards, which are regulated by the Jointly Conferred Coursework Awards Policy;
  3. Higher Degree by Research (HDR) jointly conferred awards, which are regulated by the Jointly Conferred Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Awards Policy; and
  4.  standard international sponsorship arrangements which are managed directly by Student Finance for invoicing purposes only.

NOTE: International agreements are executed at University level rather than the Faculty or School level.
Neither Faculties nor Schools have authority to sign international agreements.
