ARC Centres of Excellence

ARC Centres of Excellence are prestigious foci of expertise through which high-quality researchers maintain and develop Australia's international standing in research areas of national priority. Through the ARC Centres of Excellence, significant collaborations occur between universities, publicly funded research organisations, other research bodies, governments and businesses in Australia and overseas, all to support outstanding research.

This scheme aims to fund highly innovative and potentially transformational research leading to international standing and a significant advancement of capabilities and knowledge. ARC Centres of Excellence will link existing Australian research strengths and build critical mass with new capacity for interdisciplinary, collaborative approaches to address the most challenging and significant research problems.

The Information Sheet provides information regarding expectations for University participation and funding leverage.

About the University Expression of Interest (EOI) Process

Submission of a University of Adelaide EOI is compulsory for all applicants intending to submit an ARC Centre of Excellence Expression of Interest (for funding in 2020). This applies to EOIs lead by University of Adelaide (as Administering Organisation), or for involvement in EOIs being submitted through other Universities. Intending applicants who have not already submitted a UofA EOI, should contact Research Services as soon as possible to discuss University requirements.

The University of Adelaide EOI provides information to inform the the host School/Faculty/DVCR about:

  1. the competitiveness or otherwise of the proposal;
  2. resource implications should the proposal be successful; and
  3. support that needs to be put in place to facilitate development of a full proposal.

Submitting an EOI to the ARC

ARC Expressions of Interest must be submitted using the ARC’s RMS system (by the lead organisation).

Submission requirements (including the requirements for Certifications – investigator and organisation) can be found in the UA Submission Process for Expressions of Interest document.

NB: This includes requirements for applicants who are submitting EOIs where the University of Adelaide is the lead organisation, and where another University is the lead and University of Adelaide is a Collaborating Organisation.
