New intent to submit form for HREC applications
Over the past year, the University of Adelaide Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) has received an unprecedented number of human research ethics submissions, around 70% more than in previous years, which has exceeded the Committee’s capacity for review at any given meeting. In consultation with faculty management, we are introducing a simple new Intent to Submit form to help manage demand and reduce duplication.
This form will:
• Allow researchers to nominate a preferred meeting date to assist with planning and timelines.
• Identify at an early stage which applications are likely to be referred to an external HREC, meaning researchers will only need to complete one application form.
• Include a pre-assessment to help correctly identify applications that may require the higher-risk review pathway.
All researchers intending to submit a human ethics application - regardless of risk level - are encouraged to complete the Intent to Submit form. This new process aims to save time and create a smoother submission experience.
