Deputy Vice-Chancellor's message

Geoffrey Crisp

I’ve recently returned to the University as DVCA, and I was so pleased that my return coincided neatly with graduations on the North Terrace campus. Seeing graduates celebrating with their family and friends is the clearest reminder there is about the value of our work, and the important role that higher education plays in transforming lives.

Thank you to the many staff who helped make the graduation ceremonies a memorable success.

The Graduations Office will now turn its attention to the University of Adelaide’s final graduation ceremonies, scheduled for March 2026. These events have been moved to March, away from the traditional May timeframe, to align with the University’s disestablishment. This will mean both staff and students will be working to a tight and compressed timeline.

Semester 2 conferrals open this Wednesday, with applications accepted until 25 November. A comprehensive communications campaign will be launched this week to remind students expecting to finish by 31 December 2025 to complete all the necessary steps to participate in these historic ceremonies.

Please review the key dates available on the graduations website, where students can also find detailed information and an FAQ page.

Our graduates are the beneficiaries of a wide range of talented staff, including our educators and, every year, the University showcases and celebrates our teaching excellence at the Celebration of Learning and Teaching. I encourage you to register for this event, scheduled for Thursday 13 November 3.00-6.00pm in The Braggs Lecture Theatre, North Terrace campus where we award the recipients of the Commendations for the Enhancement of and Innovation in Student Learning, the Stephen Cole the Elder Awards for Excellence, and the Vice-Chancellor's Award for Excellence.

What makes a university truly special is its people, and I am enjoying connecting with former colleagues, to meeting many new ones, and to being part of the University’s contributions and achievements.

Emeritus Professor Geoffrey Crisp
Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Academic)
