Children’s University inspires young minds with money-smart learning

CU financial literacy workshop

Children’s University Eyre Peninsula members took part in an inspiring series of hands-on learning experiences across Port Lincoln, Tumby Bay and Cleve during the October school holidays, with a standout session led by Dr Daniel Orlovsky, Lecturer in Finance from the Adelaide Business School.

Dr Orlovsky’s Finance Workshop introduced participants to the fundamentals of money management, saving, budgeting, and making smart financial decisions. Through engaging, real-world examples, students were encouraged to think critically about how money works and how their choices can shape their financial futures.

One parent shared, “It’s so important for our children to realise the importance of saving, and the realistic situations presented in the activity really got them thinking.”

The school holiday programming also featured an Auslan workshop, where members learned basic sign language and explored the value of inclusive communication, along with a clay fossil-making session led by local artist Sara Wormald from Creative Jobs.

These enriching activities, proudly supported by Bendigo Community Bank Port Lincoln, gave members the chance to explore their curiosity, build new skills, and connect with their communities in meaningful ways.
