Celebration of Learning and Teaching: Honouring Our Legacy, Inspiring Our Future
As the University of Adelaide prepares to embark on an exciting new era with the establishment of Adelaide University in 2026, this year’s Celebration of Learning and Teaching on Thursday 13 November marks a poignant moment to reflect, recognise, and celebrate. The event honours excellence, innovation and the people who have shaped more than 150 years of learning and teaching at our institution.
For generations, the University has been home to passionate educators and dedicated professional staff whose contributions have enriched the student experience and inspired lifelong learning. The Celebration of Learning and Teaching recognises those who exemplify this spirit of excellence and creativity in their work.
Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Peter Høj AC will open the ceremony, reflecting on the University’s proud history of learning and teaching leadership and the role our educators continue to play in shaping the future of Adelaide University.
This year’s ceremony will showcase recipients of the Commendations for the Enhancement of and Innovation in Student Learning, recognising the diverse activities, services and programs that enhance student engagement and success. The event will also honour the winners of the Stephen Cole the Elder Awards for Excellence, the University’s most prestigious awards for outstanding achievement in teaching, support of teaching and supervisory practice.
The celebration will also feature a special performance by first-year students from the Elder Conservatorium of Music Theatre, adding a note of vibrancy to the afternoon.
Following the formalities, guests are invited to enjoy cocktail food and refreshments, connect with colleagues and capture photographs to commemorate the final Celebration of Learning and Teaching.
Together, we celebrate not only our history but the enduring passion for learning and teaching that will continue to define the new Adelaide University.
