Recognition for Dame Roma Mitchell Cancer Research Laboratory

Professor Wayne Tilley and Dr Amy Dwyer have been recognised for their research by the Endocrine Society of Australia. Professor Tilley received an Honorary Life Membership, one of the Society’s most prestigious recognitions, honouring members who have made an outstanding contribution to endocrinology in Australia, either through research, clinical practice, education, or service, while Dr Dwyer received a $10,000 Seed Grant to tackle breast cancer risk linked to hormone therapy. This grant is to establish Australia’s first immune-competent rat model of estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast cancer. This innovative project will investigate how commonly used synthetic hormones (progestins) in contraceptives and menopausal hormone therapy influence breast cancer progression.
