2026 Hugh Stretton Oration

Are public policy failures risking our democracy? Presented by Dr Susan Close

On the 2 June 2026, Adelaide University hosted its sixth Hugh Stretton Oration. Held on a rainy winter evening in the prestigious Elder Hall, the gathering was honoured by the attendance of Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson, Governor of South Australia.

Dr Susan Close presented an astounding and thought-provoking oration, with valuable responses by Professor Lisa Hill and Emeritus Professor Alan Reid. The evening concluded with some considered questions from the audience to the three speakers.
