All graduands participating in a ceremony are required to wear the
appropriate academic dress for their Adelaide University award.
Coursework Programs and Master by Research Students
Each student will wear:
- Cambridge-style black gown
- Black mortarboard with black tassel
Hoods
Black Oxford-style hoods, fully lined with the relevant colour:
Award Type: Hood Colour
Master, Master of Research,
Graduate Diploma, Graduate Certificate South East Limestone
Bachelor, Honours degree North Terrace Purple
Diploma, Associate Degree, Professional Bright Blue
Doctorate (PhD) Students
Each Doctorate student will wear:
Oxford-style black gown with red facing on the front of the gown and around the sleeve cuffs
Black Oxford-style hood, fully lined with red, with gold edging
Black Tudor bonnet with black tassel
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander graduands are encouraged to wear a University-provided stole and/or tassels in the colours of the Aboriginal flag, the Torres Strait Islander flag, or both, in addition to the required academic dress.
All graduands, domestic and international, are encouraged to wear cultural or ceremonial attire in addition to the required academic dress.
