A response to the past

A few months ago I wrote a post to the future that I would respond to in December.

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find that post anywhere online due to the fact that the blog has shifted to a new website. This has made responding very hard. A time capsule isn’t very good if you can’t find where it’s buried. Even so, I thought I’d respond to the hazy outline of things I remember writing in it.

To May 2020 (or thereabouts),

You really had no idea. I guess that’s to be expected though. We can’t predict where our lives are going to end up.

You asked how I was going. Let’s start with the bad news. Everything that you are doing is coming to an end. Ending some of those things has been pretty traumatic. Sometimes it’s daunting thinking about next year where nothing is certain. I’m still hopeful that something positive will come out of 2021 though.

Even though all that’s happening, you also get to have a lot of really positive experiences in 2020. You get to have a lot of takeaway food in company with the people you care about. You get to meet new people, get a lot fitter, and do things your passionate about.

You asked some questions about the CoronaVirus. Basically, we’re on the verge of a vaccine, and things seem to be calming down. Victoria ended up being in a really intense lockdown, so warn your Victorian friends. Things in South Australia weren’t so bad. Hydroxychloroquine did not end up being the solution to corona virus that some people suggested it would.

Get ready for a wild ride,

December 2020
