Special Tertiary Admissions Test

Never completed year 12 or any other higher education? You may wish to use the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) to gain entry into University.

The STAT is a two-hour, multiple-choice test designed to assess a range of skills and knowledge needed to study at university.

The South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC) coordinates the STAT as well as your application to university. To sit the test, you'll need to be over 18 years old before 1 February in the year that you wish to commence study. If you have been enrolled in the last two years, you must not have done more than two years (full-time) tertiary study in total.

Where and when

You can take the STAT for mid-year entry degrees from May 2019. For a full list of available dates and venues—along with application instructions—visit the SATAC website.

Or, if you'd prefer, you can complete the STAT online via the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) website.

How to prepare

For information on how best to prepare for the STAT, visit the ACER website and download their Candidate Information Booklet.

Note that the University of Adelaide only requires the STAT Multiple Choice Test.
