Technology is changing the face of education and research. By harnessing what it offers, we can learn more, do more, and be more connected, here and across the globe. Information Technology and Digital Services is holding this inaugural event to showcase some of what is possible and what it can mean for you. It will feature booths for staff and students to enjoy, Tech Talks for University of Adelaide staff, and some interactive activities. Also, some prizes!
The Showcase will be opened by the University of Adelaide's Chief Operating Officer Bruce Lines and begin with a keynote address for University staff from Apple, with a special focus on the higher education sector. Two University of Adelaide speakers will also be presenting sessions for University of Adelaide professional and academic staff: A/Prof Nick Falkner, Director of the Smart City Consortium, and Prof Anton van den Hengel, the Director of the Australian Institute for Machine Learning. ‘Tech Talks’ for University staff will also be presented on the Mezzanine level of Hub Central (registration required). Also, morning tea and networking drinks at the day’s end. Themes on the day link in with our forthcoming Technology Strategy Digital Future.
Held in conjunction with a Hub Market Day, with plenty to see and do, the Showcase will also include over 20 booths with information and things to see and try – VR flight and racing simulation, 3D printing, and more from the world of technology, plus some giveaways, prizes, and even free popcorn. Hub Central Level 4 will be a lively space for University staff, students and the broader university community to see and learn more about new technology.
