Biography/ Background

Deputy Executive Director, Australian Workplace Innovation and Social Research Centre (WISeR)

Kate Barnett is a social policy researcher whose PhD focused on attitudes to ageing, in a cross-cultural context. Prior to joining the WISeR she operated Kate Barnett and Associates, a national social research and evaluation firm, where she combines her social policy background with a range of social and workforce research topics. Since joining the WISeR, Kate Barnett has worked with other WISeR researchers on a number of major research projects, including a study of the role of the VET sector in assisting people to move from welfare to work, ongoing research for WorkCoverSA on achieving effective return to work, evaluation for the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing of the Day Respite in Residential Facilities initiative, evaluation for SA Health of the Community Rehabilitation Centres, and evaluation for DFEEST of the VET to Work Disability Initiative.
