International Students

Undergraduate

Information, including the relevant application forms for undergraduate medicine can be obtained via international@adelaide.edu.au. Applicants should ask for the brochure called Undergraduate Program Information for Prospective Students (Medicine and Dentistry).

Postgraduate

All postgraduate training to further equip doctors for clinical practice in the hospital and community is organised through the Australian medical colleges. This is usually undertaken in conjunction with a paid position recognised by the relevant college. Two useful websites (The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, The Royal Australasian College of Physicians) are shown below:

The Discipline of General Practice offers several academic courses both in coursework and research. These include a Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma and Masters in Grief and Palliative Care Counselling (both by coursework and by research). Please note that the Postgraduate Certificate is available entirely online and that it is planned that the Diploma be available on line also in the future. Applications to study as an external student may be made directly to the Grief and Palliative Care Counselling Unit of the Department. Students wishing to study on campus must apply to the International Students Office as above.

The Discipline of General Practice offers a PhD program by research. Students must also undertake a Structured Program of studies after consultation with their supervisor. The Faculty of Health Sciences offers several other academic courses, both in coursework and research, to those interested in pursuing non-clinical careers. Examples include Master of Clinical Science, Master of Drug and Alcohol Studies, Master of Public Health and PhD.
