Special Studies Program (SSP)

In the Faculty of Health Sciences the Special Studies Program (SSP) provides the opportunity for academic staff to meet and interact with colleagues overseas. This program also allows staff to update their skills and foster international linkages to the significant benefit of the University.

SSP Leave in 2009

You are encouraged to refer to the online SSP information on the Human Resources (HR) website. The University Special Studies Program Policy & Guidelines and the Faculty-Specific SSP Criteria (rtf 30kB) (modified April 2008) will assist you in confirming your eligibility for SSP in 2009.  Your entitlement for SSP can be found on your UoA payslip.

The first round of applications for eligible staff in the FHS requesting additional travel and living expenses for a component of SSP outside of Adelaide anytime during 2009 closed on 31 March 2008.

Applications are now invited for a second round of SSP in 2009 on the appropriate proforma (rtf 280kB) (Closing date: 30 September 2008). An original and six copies please to Stella Richards in the FHS Research Secretariat.

An SSP Report needs to be submitted within one month of return from SSP to the satisfaction of your Head of School (one copy to be forwarded to Human Resources with your completion form and a copy to the FHS Research Secretariat for review by the FHS SSOCP Committee).

A model SSP Report  (pdf 163kB) has been kindly supplied by Associate Professor Jane Mathias, who currently represents the School of Psychology on the Faculty SSOCP Committee.

Overseas Conference Leave

The Overseas Conference Leave Program helps academic staff to attend or participate actively in overseas conferences that are essentially concerned with research, scholarly activities, and/or with appropriate professional development activities.
Staff participating in the scheme are encouraged to visit other laboratories and/or research institutions during the period of their leave to help facilitate international research linkages.
