This scheme is not intended for students already enrolled in an Honours Program.

Applications are invited for undergraduate research scholarships on the appropriate form (rtf 72kB). Please refer to the eligibility criteria below. The Faculty of Health Sciences Research Committee offers research scholarships to provide undergraduate students with an opportunity to participate in health science research projects. These projects are typically carried out during the summer vacation but can be undertaken at other times with the approval of the relevant Academic Head of School. The Scholarships are available for an agreed six week period and the stipend is $175 per week. Awardees are expected to give a verbal presentation within the School/laboratory at the discretion of the supervisor at the completion of the project.

Projects can be carried out in University Schools/Disciplines, the IMVS and affiliated hospitals which provide appropriate facilities. They are to be supervised by an appropriate research worker or clinician who is required to supply a written agreement regarding his/her ability and willingness to provide the necessary supervision.

Eligibility

The Scholarships are open to undergraduate students of the University of Adelaide who intend to progress in their studies to undertake an honours degree, or a HB.MedSc degree for MBBS students, in a health science related area at the University of Adelaide. Applicants should have successfully completed at least two years of their course at the time the scholarship commences. All arrangements for acceptance and supervision by a University School/Discipline must be made by the applicant who may only hold one research scholarship at any one time. As a rule the project will be undertaken individually; however, consideration will be given to applicants who may elect to work in pairs on a particular project if such an arrangement has the approval of the relevant Academic Head of School. Each participant in a joint project must give a separate verbal presentation at the conclusion of the project.
