Art & Heritage Collections

The University of Adelaide is renowned for its collections. They range from visual art, heritage furniture, scientific instruments, classical archaeology, and over a dozen more, including gifts given to the University, minerals, trees and so on.

The Art & Heritage Collections staff take care of these collections and are in the process of a massive cataloguing project.

In each Adelaidean this year, we will highlight an object from a collection in the hopes of giving readers the opportunity to explore the breadth and depth of this unique aspect of the University.

S.T. Gill's Hunt Meet at Dry Creek near Adelaide (1845) depicts a very different era, when the University - or much of Adelaide - had not yet been established.
This water colour on paper is currently located in the Mitchell Building at the University's North Terrace Campus.
