Pianist Kathryn Selby teams up with award-winning Australian cellist Li-Wei in the fourth of her national Selby & Friends concert series. The Adelaide concert will be held on Saturday 8 September at 6.30pm in Elder Hall, University of Adelaide, North Terrace Campus. The concert program will feature five works: - Beethoven's Sonata for Cello and Piano in F major, Op. 5 #1;
- Schumann's Adagio and Allegro for cello and piano in A flat major, Op.70;
- Beethoven's Sonata for Cello and Piano in A major, Op. 69;
- Paganini's Moses variations; and
- Giovanni Sollima's 'Alone'
Li-Wei has established a formidable reputation on the international concert scene and is well known for his brilliant virtuosity, refined musicality and sincerity of interpretation. He has won several prestigious awards including the 2001 Naumburg Competition, silver medal at the 11th Tchaikovsky International Competition, and an invitation onto the BBC New generation Artists Scheme. Aside from an extraordinary technical fluency, he has a musical intelligence and sensitivity which is breathtaking both for its maturity and profound vision'.
