OPEN DAY 2010 - Sunday 15 August

Open Day 2010 is your chance to visit our beautiful North Terrace Campus, to learn what we're all about and get your questions answered.

No matter what your age or your interests, there's something for everyone at Open Day.

We'll help to match your interests with specific areas of study, show where university can lead you and explain the student services available to make it all happen.

Here are just some of the many activities on Open Day.

For full details, pick up an Open Day program on Sunday 15 August or visit the website: www.adelaide.edu.au/openday

ACTIVITIES & TALKS

Faculty Displays & Activities will give you a taste of the excellent work being done by University of Adelaide students and staff.

See how 3D technology is helping to provide breakthroughs in molecular biology and medicine, find out how research affects what farmers grow and what you eat, learn how your brain works and take a psychological test, or see how digital technology is changing the way we teach history.

All these and many more activities and displays will demonstrate the wide-ranging educational opportunities available at the University of Adelaide.

Talks are also extremely important for visitors to Open Day.

To find out more, see the Talks Timetable.

ENTERTAINMENT

Open Day offers a variety of entertainment right across campus, from the Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition, to music and theatre performances, sports and clubs demonstrations, and much more.

ELDER CONSERVATORIUM PERFORMANCES

See music students in action at the Reading Room in the Barr Smith Library. Find out what it's like to be professionally trained at one of Australia's oldest and most distinguished specialist music institutions.

THEATRE GUILD PERFORMANCES - WRITE OH!

The Theatre Guild proudly presents three short pieces of new work written, performed and directed by students of the University of Adelaide in the spectacular setting of the Barr Smith Library Reading Room. Directed by Michael Allen and re-staged for Open Day by Bart Csorba. Short, sharp, dynamic performances that run for approximately 20 minutes.

ADELAIDE UNIVERSITY UNION (AUU) + CLUBS, SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT

There's two parts to university - study and the social aspect. The Adelaide University Union (AUU) provides everything you'll need outside of the classroom and enriches your life on campus! These services and events give you an exciting campus community and culture that will be both meaningful and useful.

Visit the Taib Mahmud Court to experience a taste of what the AUU does all year round. Listen to live music, watch some demonstrations, eat some tasty food or get a free massage or painted face! A range of clubs available to join will also be on display. Joining a club is a great way to meet people of similar interests, giving you a break from the pressures of the classroom.

THE THREE-MINUTE THESIS (3MT) COMPETITION

As part of this inaugural competition, higher degree-by-research students will have three minutes to present a compelling oration on their thesis topic and its significance in language appropriate to a non-specialist audience.
