Course Code MDIA 2215 Course Graphic Design III Coordinating Unit Media Term Semester 2 Level Undergraduate Location/s Adelaide College of ArtsandDes Units 6 Contact Up to 8 hours per week Available for Study Abroad and Exchange N Prerequisites MDIA 2214 Assumed Knowledge Familiarity with basic computer graphic applications such as Adobe Photoshop and Final Cut Pro Restrictions Available to BMedia, BCtveArts students only Quota A quota of 22 applies Course Description Students will investigate design problems, which will extend their skills and knowledge regarding the generation of complex design solutions. Topics include the creation of mass print media advertisements; typographic solutions for both print and digital media; and the use of advanced software techniques to generate complex page layouts.

Course Learning OutcomesAt the successful completion of this course students will be able to:
1 Develop and extend design skills and practice through conceptualization, refinement, collaboration and evaluation 2 Create mass print media advertisements that communicate the key features of a product, service or idea to the consumer 3 Produce typographic design solutions for a wide range of applications, both print and digital 4 Design and manipulate complex layouts and graphics to achieve communication objective 5 Demonstrate an ability to find and use information relevant to the task from a variety of information sources

Assessment DetailAssessment is determined by teaching staff at the Creative Industries Centre, Tea Tree Gully TAFE using approaches and standards utilised in teaching the equivalent qualifications through the CIC. A team comprising academic staff from UoA and CIC will monitor assessment processes and student outcomes.
