Abstract: More than 2500 years ago Sun Tzu argued, “The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.” This is an idea ripe for our time of cyber insecurity and information conflict. Combining computational and social theory, this lecture explains how international players are employing influence technologies in an atmosphere of information saturation to alter beliefs and manipulate democracy. Also provided are suggested on how societies may be protected, and authoritarian impulses may be reversed.
