State Records of South Australia, established in 1919, is the oldest government archives in Australia and holds some of the state’s most important historical documents. This exhibition will showcase a selection of those documents from the time of first European settlement to Federation in 1901. Through this unique collaboration, these iconic documents will be paired with material from the Special Collections of the University of Adelaide to create vivid insights into the state’s history. This exhibition has been jointly curated by the Department of Historical and Classical Studies at the University of Adelaide, State Records and the University of Adelaide Library.

To accompany the Stories from the Archives exhibition, members of the Department of Historical and Classical Studies will present a public lecture. See the South Australia's History Festival website for information.
