All items may now be requested via Interlibrary loan once more. There is continued global supply uncertainty due to COVID-19, and no guarantee that we will be able to obtain the material you have requested. Our ability to source material is dependent on the availability of other institutions. Please be prepared for long delays.
Thank you for your understanding and we will continue to update you regarding any further changes. For more information on changes to library services, please visit our response to COVID-19 website.
University of Adelaide students who study remotely have access to the full range of online resources, as well as free book delivery.
Remote students (students who do not live within the Adelaide metropolitan area, and who do not attend classes on campus) can have books and other print items posted to you, free of charge.
For more information about using the remote student service please contact Ask Library.
Eligibility and registering as a remote student
The remote student service is available to University of Adelaide students who live outside the Adelaide metropolitan region and who do not visit a University of Adelaide campus to attend classes.
To register as a remote student please email the library.
Please note that students who study at the Roseworthy Campus and who live within a 25 km radius of the campus are not eligible to use the service.
We will send the books and other library items that you need to your home address free of charge.
Books are sent via Australia Post, and we'll include in your package a Business Reply label that you can use to send the books back to the library free of charge.
The loan period for books is generally 10 weeks and most items automatically renew (so you can have the item for a longer period). Some heavily used items may have shorter loan periods. Books and other library items that are requested will have their due date changed, and you'll be notified of the new due date via email. Read more on borrowing.
To renew or check the status of the books you have out on loan, login to MyLibrary.
Request journal article and book chapter scans
If you need a chapter of a book, or a journal article that is available in the library in print, you can request a copy be scanned and emailed to you. To do this, find the item in Library Search and request it (using personal delivery as the pick-up location) and your item will be posted out to you. Request an item from the collection.
Access to other libraries
If you happen to live close to the campus of another university you may be able to register directly with that university's library to borrow books from their collections under the ULANZ scheme. Joining and borrowing from other University libraries.
