Free, lunch boxes may be purchased in advance

Friday, 22 February 2019, 10:00 am to 4:30 pm

Urrbrae House, Waite Campus

Presented by University Collections and Urrbrae House of the University of Adelaide in collaboration with the 2019 Heysen Sculpture Biennial, this Cultural Symposium promises to be a stimulating accompaniment to this year's Heysen Sculpture Biennial, curated by Stephanie Radok, and is grounded in Australian art practice through its link to Hans Heysen, one of Australia's most well-known artists whose response to place engaged chiefly with trees and the land.

Treading lightly, thinking green, working ecologically and engaging with a sense of place, "Dwelling: Shelter, Thinking, Being" brings artists together to present images, talk about their art practices and how they materialise their investigations, and will include input from scientists and landscape designers. An engaging day, speakers will weave their way through their own perceptions of dwelling and its implications on our existence.

Contributors to this event include Allan Campbell, Kate Delaporte, Ian Hamilton, Warwick Keates, Terry Langham, Stephanie Radok, Melinda Rankin, Catherine Speck, Eve Sullivan, Evette Sunset, Dominic Symes, Hossein Valamanesh, Laura Wills and Lynette Zeitz.

Morning and afternoon tea will be provided. BYO lunch, purchase a lunch box by The Caterers ($23) when reserving your seat, or visit Beltana Cafe nearby. Twilight drinks will be offered on the terrace of Urrbrae House after the symposium.
