    Eureka Award

Matthew Trinkle was one of the three finalists for the Eureka award in the area of Outstanding Science in Support of Defence or National Security.  Presented annually by the Australian Museum, the Eureka Prizes reward excellence in the fields of scientific research & innovation, science leadership, school science and science journalism & communication.

Matthew has been working at the University of Adelaide for the past 15 years and within the Australian Radar Research Centre since its opening in November 2010. His primary area of research and expertise is in phased array processing for radar and GPS systems, as well as interference rejection techniques for GPS receivers. Matthew has been involved in the hardware development of concept demonstrators for various phased array systems.

Matthew's love of science started at an early age. His father was a technician/engineer and as a child they spent many hours together on their "pet projects". He studied electronics at school where he was fortunate to have an enthusiastic teacher that encouraged his passion for electronics.

    Cotutelle agreement

The UoA/UoPisa cotutelle agreement links radar research groups within the University of Adelaide together with similar groups at the University of Pisa.

Key research themes are in the area of radar systems and technology, RF propagation and radar signal processing. The applications focus are surveillance, environmental and atmospheric monitoring through radar sensing, systems design and signal processing.

SoniaTomei and Alessio Bacci joined the Adelaide Radar Research Centre in November 2011 and are the first two students under this program.
