NAIDOC week

NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to come together to celebrate the rich history, diverse cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the oldest continuing cultures on the planet.

This year's theme is Heal Country! This calls for all of us to continue to seek greater protections for our lands, our waters, our sacred sites and our cultural heritage. Country is more than a place. It nurtures our lives in every aspect - spiritually, physically, emotionally, socially, and culturally. Heal country calls for all of us to continue to seek greater protections for our lands, our waters, our sacred sites and our cultural heritage.

Kaurna cultural walking tour

The University invites you to walk alongside Kaurna Elder, Uncle Frank Wanganeen. As a custodian of the Karrawirra Parri (River Torrens), Frank has a deep understanding of the traditional lands on which our three campuses sit upon and can help you to learn more about the rich histories and contributions of the Kaurna people and the true history of this country.

Frank is a passionate cultural educator who has made significant contributions to reconciliation and the preservation of Kaurna heritage, culture and language. The walking tour will explore sites of ancient and contemporary significance along the Karrawirra Parri (River Torrens). The walk will take place at 12noon on Friday 13 November. Please meet at the Kaurna Learning Circle, near Gate 9, Victoria Drive.
