Reflections on Pride Month with Dalestair

Pride Month is a time dedicated to inclusivity and embracing the vibrant LGBTQ+ community. It's a moment to honour our rich history, acknowledge our struggles, and celebrate our remarkable achievements.
During this reflection on Pride Month, I wish to highlight some of the various ways Queer Culture is nurtured on campus. The student magazine, On Dit, just launched its Queer edition for 2023 and I have been delighted to see students and staff browsing copies and engaging with LGBTQIA+ created content on campus.
I also acknowledge the efforts of the ALLY Network and Adelaide University Pride Club in creating safe spaces and promoting education and activism, with events like IDAHOBIT growing every year. I also appreciate the individual academics who prioritize using students' chosen names and pronouns and actively seek to understand diverse student experiences.
To all those who embrace the Queer Community both at the University and beyond, thank you for accepting one another and recognizing the power of being authentically ourselves. As lifelong learners, we understand that education extends beyond textbooks. We learn from each other and from within ourselves, and it is essential to have spaces that accommodate this multifaceted growth.
