To succeed in your assessments, you need to know our University's academic standards. Attending class, making friends with your course outline, and managing your time are only parts of the story.

Think of it like you would your personal standards about right and wrong, your work ethic and discipline — I’m guessing you hold yourself highly in these areas and you can exercise the same standards when it comes to producing work for assessments.

We call it Academic Integrity, which means using, generating, and communicating information ethically, honestly, and responsibly. This can be viewed as a set of values to keep in mind when completing assessments.

Honesty - being honest about where your ideas come from

Respect - giving credit when you use other people's ideas

Responsibility - taking ownership of your work

Fairness - treating other students and scholars fairly

Trust - doing the right thing, even when nobody is watching

Courage - standing up for what is right

It’s also about being able to put these values into action by doing your own work, knowing how to reference and paraphrase, and avoiding collusion and contract cheating.
