Planned network outage on Saturday 5 April
Summary
A network outage is scheduled for Saturday 5 April from 12:30 - 3 pm. During this time, students will be unable to access University of Adelaide online systems.
In preparation for Day One of Adelaide University, IT are making some significant changes to the IT network interconnectivity across all our combined campuses.
A major step is the enhancement of the UniSA and UoA IT networks and convergence of the incoming and outgoing internet connection. This is a significant step towards the two institutions coming together allowing us to operate seamlessly and collaboratively as one university.
In order to achieve this, a network outage must take place, affecting all UniSA and UoA staff and students at all campuses for a short period. The impact may vary depending on campus, foundation university system, and work area so it is important that you read the information.

When will this happen
The outage will take place on Saturday 5 April from 12:30 - 3 pm. While we will endeavour to restore the networks as soon as possible, intermittent outages may continue on to Sunday 6 April. We encourage you to prepare for some impact on Sunday 6 April, in case this is required.
What do I need to do?
- Please save your work and log off on Friday 4 April by 4 pm at the latest.
- Please prepare to work off campus and save any course material you may require during this time locally on your own device.
- Please do not attend campus or access any of the affected systems outlined above from off campus during the outage.
- If you require an adjustment to assignment due dates as a result of this outage, please use the standard process to apply for this.

Will there be any changes caused by this outage?
No, all impacted systems should return to normal after the outage period.
Will this impact only if you are on campus?
Access to the impacted systems will be unavailable, whether accessed from on or off campus.
Why can’t this be done overnight?
The size and scope of the work required means that it cannot be completed within just one night. Completing the work over the weekend allows sufficient time to complete the required tasks including testing and restoration, while minimising disruption and ensuring networks to be fully functional in time for business to resume Monday 7 April.
What does this mean for me?
We are asking students to plan not be on campus or access any of the affected systems during the outage. Students are asked to use the standard process to apply for adjustments to assignment due dates if required as a result of the outage.
